Sheets & Giggles bedding is a Biobased Product
Big news, S&G Community! The USDA just announced that Sheets & Giggles bedding has earned the highly-coveted, Certified Biobased Product label.
What is a Biobased product?
Biobased products are products that are derived from plants and other renewable agricultural, marine, and forestry materials. They provide an alternative to conventional, petroleum-derived products, like polyester.
Sheets and Giggles bedding is 97% biobased (which is basically an A+) and you'll see that number reflected on our new certification label.
"We applaud Sheets and Giggles for earning the USDA Certified Biobased Product label," said Vernell Thompson of the USDA BioPreferred Program.
Why is this a big deal?
History of the BioPreferred Program
The USDA BioPreferred program began in 2002. Its intent was to spur the use of biobased materials as an environmentally responsible alternative, establish a sustainable biobased economy, and drive governmental programs for domestic and international supply chain response.
Currently, the Biden Administration and the United Nations SDG’s (Sustainable Development Goals) support development of a sustainable biobased economy of bioproducts in order to reduce climate change.
(Joe, if you read our blog, and we can only assume you do, consider switching out the Boll & Branch for Sheets & Giggles.)
We're in good company
We share the USDA BioPreferred certification with companies such as Clorox for their Simple Works product line, Sherwin Williams' Harmony paints, Owens Corning's Eco Touch Pink insulation, NatureWorks' Bioplastics and several home textile products.
