Sheets Giggles has achieved the 3rd party certification of the USDA! The sheets were approved to be of biobased materials and qualifying for BioPreferred status Certification for the USDA BioPreferred program administered under the USDA.
The USDA BioPreferred program promoting the use of industry and consumer products of renewable, biobased materials began almost 20 years ago in 2002. Its intent was to spur growth and the use of biobased materials as an environmentally responsible initiative to support the bioproducts industry, establish a sustainable biobased economy and driving governmental programs for domestic and international supply chain response.
Currently, the new Biden Administration and the United Nations SDG’s (Sustainable Development Goals) initiative for reducing climate change are supporting development of a sustainable biobased economy of bioproducts for industry and consumers. Our ascension to official certification is timely and opens opportunities to publicize our leadership in the industry and partnership with the US government programs. There are significant opportunities in both sales to government agencies and consumer markets which available to us should we choose to take advantage. Governmental agencies and contractors are required by law (FAR) Federal Acquisition Regulations) to participate and report their biobased purchases annually. There are minimum biobased standards within the requirements. Now we currently meet those requirements.
We now share the USDA BioPreferred initiative with other companies such as Clorox for their Simple Works product line, Sherwin Williams - Harmony paints, Owens Corning - Eco Touch Pink insulation, NatureWorks – Bioplastics along with a few Home Textile product suppliers.
There is an expectation that this government program which will shortly be initiating a new promotional campaign will bring S&G both governmental and consumer opportunities.

Sheets and Giggles Earns USDA Certified Biobased Product Label
Denver, CO. (January 25, 2021) — Sheets and Giggles announced today that it has earned the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Certified Biobased Product label. The product, Eucalyptus Lyocell Sheet Sets, is now able to display a unique USDA label that highlights its percentage of biobased content. Third-party verification for a product's biobased content is administered through the USDA BioPreferred Program, an initiative created by the 2002 Farm Bill (and recently reauthorized by the 2018 Farm Bill). One of the goals of the BioPreferred Program is to increase the development, purchase and use of biobased products.
The USDA Certified Biobased Product label displays a product's biobased content, which is the portion of a product that comes from a renewable source, such as plant, animal, marine, or forestry feedstocks. Utilizing renewable, biobased materials displaces the need for non-renewable petroleum-based chemicals. Biobased products, through petroleum displacement, have played an increasingly important role in reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions that exacerbate global climate change. Biobased products are cost-comparative, readily available, and perform as well as or better than their
conventional counterparts.

According to a report that USDA released in July 2019, biobased products contributed $459 billion to the U.S. economy in 2016 (a 17% increase from 2014) and support, directly and indirectly, 4.6 million jobs. The report's research team estimates the reduction of fossil fuels and associated GHG emissions from biobased products equivalent to approximately 12 million metric tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) prevented as of 2016. The increased production of renewable chemicals and biobased products contributes to the development
and expansion of the U.S. bioeconomy - where society looks to agriculture for sustainable sources of fuel, energy, chemicals, and products.
